Dave Wingfield - Lead Guitar
Dave "Dinger" Wingfield New Day's Lead Guitar player brings decades of playing to New Day's decades of tunes. "Since the band covers more types of songs than a lot of groups it is a great experience to play so many styles. These days, I'm particularly focused on what seems appropriate for the song without being too predictable. It is challenging because much of the material is classic, whether it is classic 60's or classic 90's, people expect a certain vibe and I agree with that I think we are starting to develop our own style with our originals every year we get a little closer to that place that allows us to make the jams more our own. One of the keys to improving my own contribution to all this is being diligent about improving my sound. It seems like a trivial detail to a lot of people but it is more important than chops in many ways. If you are putting 100% of yourself into the music but only getting 75% of your potential sound, your hands and brain overwork themselves trying to get that missing part to come out. As unlikely as it seems, I'm playing better because the sound forms a more articulate connection from brain to speaker."
